Together At Westpoint
What’s the difference between Together At Westpoint and other Christian Conferences?
No it’s not the camping! It’s an Apostle – namely Guy Miller and the growing team that he is developing around him. What’s so important about Apostles? Maybe telling you about a recent experience from my trip to Kenya might help to answer that question.
About a month ago I found myself sitting through the longest church meeting I have ever been in – our 2 hours on a Sunday was nothing compared to this 5 hour marathon and there wasn’t a coffee break in sight! The meeting was a celebration of the last 3 years for Newfrontiers in Kenya (known as the Kerith movement of churches, apostolically led by Edward Buria). It is a period they have referred to as “The New Season”, based on a prophetic word that came to them in 2008 that just the people of Israel entering the promised land under Joshua’s leadership, this was their “New Season”. During this mammoth meeting I had the privilege of hearing about churches planted, leaders trained and released, people lifted out of poverty through job creation, schools set up and feeding programmes established across Kenya.
It was breathtaking! But then towards the end of the meeting, accompanied by vuvuzela blasts (!!), banners were unfurled from the ceiling outlining “Kerith Vision 2030.” If the “New Season” vision was ambitious, the “Kerith Vision 2030” is out of this world ...
· To reach 300,000 new disciples for Jesus
· To see 500 churches planted across the nation
· To see 60 new schools / colleges and a Kerith University started in Kenya
· To train and release 14,000 new leaders
· To see our movement having a great influence on the governance of our nation
· To come up with more development programmes
· To see God’s community empowered economically and socially
· Making Jesus more famous in our nation
And it is this pioneering faith which is at the heart of the apostolic gift. Where you and I might just see problems and difficulties, apostles just see opportunities! Where you and I might be happy to rest on our laurels, apostles press on to even greater exploits of faith!
We are so thrilled to be part of an apostolic movement of churches. Historically Newfrontiers has grown under the apostolic leadership of Terry Virgo and his team, but in recent years new apostolic men are emerging, Joshua’s taking on batons from their Moses, leading Newfrontiers into our “New Season.”
And this is why we want to encourage you to do everything you can to attend Together At Westpoint this summer. It might seem like just another Christian Conference, but I can assure you this is a very different beast. This is all about a family of churches who are caught up on the apostolic adventures of Guy Miller and his team, going to the ends of the earth with the Gospel. Please don’t miss out!
With love,
Chris
